Permalink Settings

Navigate to Blog > Settings > Permalinks to configure your blog URL structure. PolyCMS supports fully customizable URL patterns for SEO-friendly content organization.

Blog Prefix & Root Mode

The blog prefix defines the root URL path for all CMS frontend pages:

Root CMS Mode: When the prefix is set to empty (""), PolyCMS seamlessly routes the root URL (/) to your chosen homepage without interfering with Perfex CRM admin or client portal routes.

Permalink Structures

Choose from standard URL structure patterns:

• Post Name: /%postname%/ -> yourdomain.com/blog/sample-post/
• Category & Name: /%category%/%postname%/ -> yourdomain.com/blog/tech/sample-post/
• Date & Name: /%year%/%monthnum%/%postname%/ -> yourdomain.com/blog/2026/08/sample-post/
• Numeric ID: /%post_id%/%postname%/ -> yourdomain.com/blog/123/sample-post/

Category Base

Configure the URL segment for category archive pages:

• Default: category -> yourdomain.com/blog/category/web-development
• Custom: topics -> yourdomain.com/blog/topics/web-development

Tag Base

Configure the URL segment for tag archive pages:

• Default: tag -> yourdomain.com/blog/tag/php
• Custom: label -> yourdomain.com/blog/label/php

URL Caching & Performance

PolyCMS uses an in-memory prefix cache file (uploads/polycms/.blog_prefix_cache.php) to optimize dynamic routing performance. This cache is automatically regenerated when you save permalink settings.

If you experience 404 errors on frontend pages, navigate to Blog > Settings > Permalinks and click Save Settings to regenerate the cache manually.

301 Redirection Engine

When you update a post slug or change permalink structures, PolyCMS automatically stores old URLs in tblblog_permalink_settings and executes 301 Permanent Redirects to preserve search engine rankings and prevent broken links.
